Police approach YouTube to track ‘Beep’ song uploader

In yet another development in the ‘Beep’ song controversy, sleuths of the cyber crime wing of the City police have written to YouTube to identify the person who uploaded the song.

According to police sources, the cyber crime wing attached to the Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the City police had written to YouTube twice seeking details about the IP address from which the song was uploaded.

The police wanted to know whether the song was uploaded from the city, the country or abroad.

“They had sought some clarifications, which we have given. But we are yet to receive any response from them,” said a source.

Meanwhile, the City police are not planning to issue summons to actor Silambarasan alias Simbu and music director R. Anirudh.

“The Coimbatore police have already given one. Once we get orders to arrest them, we will do so,” said a police officer.

Interim relief denied

Meanwhile, the Madras High Court refused to grant any interim relief to actor Simbu who moved a plea seeking anticipatory bail apprehending arrest in the criminal proceedings initiated against him over the song. The matter has been adjourned to January 4. However, Justice B. Rajendran directed the Inspector of Police, Race Course Police Station, Coimbatore to extend the date for his personal appearance for enquiry from January 2 to January 5.
