Simbu and Anirudh Ravichander face severe backlash over 'Beep Song'

A song sung by Tamil star Silambarasan and composed by 'Kolaveri Di' fame music director Anirudh Ravichander has already mired controversy even before its release. The 'Beep song', as it is being called, is said to have several Tamil cuss words and has not gone down well with many in the state.

On social media, many have condemned the song for its objectionable use of cuss words which are understandable despite having muted it with a beep sound.

A case was registered against the duo under section 4 read with 6 of Indecent Representation of Women Act, 509 IPC and 67 of Information Technology Act by Race Course Police, Coimbatore.

CPI-M's All India Democratic Women's Association on Saturday sought a ban on the song, claiming it was "vulgar" in nature and "denigrating" women. Some members of AIDWA, led by local secretary Amuda, submitted a petition to the City Police Commissioner, A Amalraj, and demanded that stringent action be taken against Simbu and Anirudh, police said. Amuda claimed that there were words describing both men and women in a vulgar and colloquial manner and denigrating women.

However, neither Simbu, nor Anirudh have spoken about the issue.
